Tree Swallow Banding

Lou Kociuk was kind enough to share some banding results as well as photos of his Certificates of Appreciation from the Banding Lab for his encounters with Tree Swallows. The one is currently in its 5th birthday year after being banded in the nest as a nestling and the second is older as it hatched in 2013 or earlier. Banding helps to indicate TS survival and longevity . Many thanks to Bill Read and Stuart Mackenzie for their banding efforts and to Lou for submitting his data to the Banding Lab.

If you encounter a Tree Swallow or a Purple Martin with a Leg Band, don’t hesitate to record the Information and submit it to the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Bird Banding Laboratory
