Hello again, Purple Martin friends,

Watch as this year’s starring couple, named Suu & Uaja, take care of their family.    We are given a “birds-eye” view of everything our beautiful martins do to raise the kids and get them to “fly the coop”.

COLCHESTER GARDEN MARKETS and CHIMNEY SWIFTS:  

On June 15th as well as July 20th, OPMA will have a booth at the Colchester (Garden) Markets, 195 Bagot Street, Colchester.    Hours will be 10 am to 3 pm.  

This is a first time event for us, arising from our newly formed connection to the Heritage Colchester  “Friends of the Old Schoolhouse” site, which is the location of our planned 2025 Purple Martin Festival.     This spring the OPMA installed PM housing here, to hopefully have an established colony by 2025, and Martins have already taken up residence!   

Come and see the Garden Markets, various vendors, and the OPMA booth (which will be located close to the new Martin colony).    The hours on both of these days are 10 am to 3 pm.    If you’d like to be part of our meet & greet with the public, to talk about Martins, you’ll be welcome at the booth – let us know !   

Also, this site hosts a healthy population of Chimney Swifts, and anyone is welcome to go to there to see them very suddenly funnel down at rapid speed into the chimney of the schoolhouse!     8:30 pm is the time to be there to watch.
